Well ,this Outdoor Wednesday is a little unveiling of the changes that have been taking place in my head and heart lately. During Christmas break, PC and I had a major heart to heart and came to the conclusion that it;s time for a career change for me. I have been with my school 13.5 years and it's not a light decision but it is an easy one. I have not been "loving" my job for a couple of years now, and I know I don't want to continue climbing the education ladder to administration...I like to be in the mix of it all too much. PC pointed out that I am in the education field because I followed my kiddos and he's so right (I was oblivious until this very wise man pointed it out), they are gone and now the job isn't fun anymore. It has it's days, great days but they get fewer and farther between. Our new director is great at allowing you to take a good luck at yourself and be honest about your reasons for being there - he says "you gotta want it". Well I don't, not that anymore...I do want something else and PC is such a great hubby - he told me to quit working in June and go back to school for nursing (which is where I started 20 years ago). Yeah! I am so excited to begin this new adventure in life! What does this have to do with outdoor Wednesday? Well, on Monday I played hooky (it was too beautiful a day to go to work) and went to visit the Riverside Community College to check out their nursing program. Bubba came along for the ride. It' a great campus and I wanted to to share the day with you. This building was erected in 1950, the architecture is beautiful ad very collegiate. Not all of their buildings are quite so charming - but overall the campus is very charming.Excitement ran though my veins like electricity as we were walking by this classroom....I am so grateful to embark on a new Journey. What I noticed was that I will not be an "odd" student at 40..there were several people my age sitting in study groups and walking around campus. But I'm not kidding myself either...plenty of youngsters too!! Bubba didn't want to participate in my "blog shoot", but he eventually looked at the camera and said "interesting tree" - he was right.
I love this campus and the program is a good one -but I haven't settled yet so you may get a few college tours on Outdoor Wednesday. Home of the Tigers! After our campus tour, we were getting ready to get back on the freeway but I wanted to get a few shots of the Mission Inn for you - it's so beautiful when it's in full bloom, so this is just a glimpse. Check out their website and enjoy the history lesson. After the Mission Inn, I drug Bubba into this "little" place...but that's another post. Gotta go to work...Check out the other Bloggers today over at A Southern Daydreamer - it's a ducky day - Leigh and BJ and very similar posts! Tata for now!

Great post and I wish you all the best with your new career goal and school. Wonderful photos, the Mission Inn looks neat.
Wonderful photos - just seeing the green grass warms me up! Wishing you the best of luck on your career/school change.
I enjoyed the pictures. We visit La Quinta every year. Is that close to you? It is so pretty there...warm sunny day after warm sunny day. So different from NC.
You sound very happy and positive about your decision...you must be relieved. I think the college campus is gorgeous and I am glad that you saw people of your own age there...that helps! I loved all of the pictures! :-)
Enjoy your week!!
xoxo

These pictures are beautiful, the campus is gorgeous!!
Wow, I admire the fact that you are pursuing your dream. I have been teaching for 17 years and there are days when I wonder how much longer can I do this? By the way, the campus looks beautiful. Good luck on your new adventure!
