Outdoor Wednesday - Who let the dogs out?

It's Outdoor Wednesday over at A Southern Day Dreamer and I was up nice and Early to get some shots of the desert for you. Then I started thinking that Momma probably is missing the pups' faces so I thought "they're outside" and thus begins my little adventure for the morning. Lets' start with the sunrise. I have been to a few places around the world and I am here to testify that the California Sunrise and sunset produce some of amazing colors that you ever did see but I will let you be the judge. Then the sun is up, I have had my 1st cup of coffee and my favorite breakfast at the moment (Foodie Friday Post) and wonder out the back door to water Momma's garden. It's not at all in the shape that she left so if you hear a cyber gasp, you know who it is; but there is a little hitchhiker in here that I wanted her to see. NOTHING grows very well in our dirt on this property -it's rock hard clay. However, I have seen Pink Primroses grow out of the sidewalk so maybe this isn't too hard. Then I wondered out the side gate to talk to the neighbors horses. I snapped a few photos of some of the "projects" PC has hiding out back (you can't see these from the road). I think they are charming as all get out but I love old cars and trucks. Then "The girls" were begging for some camera time, so I started snapping away. The little brown bear is Bella, the little white coyote is CoCo and the Black lab is Abbey. They are so fun with their own personalities and antics. Bella is not just any little bear - she prances around like shes in the center ring. Abbey is just like any other lab - lovable to a fault - shes throws all of her weight on you until you rub her belly. Her favorite hobby has always been sitting or laying down - she's sort of lazy- but she will play catch for a minute or two. CoCo is one of the sweetest little dogs you'll never meet. We rescued her from the Grocery Store where the nice lady told me she was a Husky/Shepard mix (she looked just like a coca-cola polar bear pup). But as you can see she is not Husky/Shepard. We think she has coyote in her because she so skinny, has wiring hair and is aloof most of the time, but when she is in the mood she loves to be loved. She is also the fastest dog I have ever seen - she outruns the border collie down the road.
Back to the story, after I was snapping photos I decided to go out the big gate. Abbey just let herself out (very sneaky), looks at me and I say "get your butt back in here", she looks at Bella and they BOLTED out of the yard. I do not think you can see them in the first photo but it was like 5 seconds after they took off. So I had to go inside get my shoes on, get my sunglasses, the leashes and some water - because I did not know how long I would be gone. The strange thing is Coco is usually the leader of the pack and she stayed behind and started eating out of every body's bowl. So as I am walking out into the desert I took a few photos of my view. It does
grow on you after awhile - see the mountains? I love that house across the way -with the green roof -too cute.
As I am snapping photos and yelling "ABBBEEEEYYYY, BEEELLLLLAAA" they pop out of the exact opposite direction that I am walking. They are running home, of course to get Coco, not because I am yelling for them. So I take a shot of the house and you can see the little black and brown spots trying to beat me home so they can let Coco out of the gate (did I shut the gate?)

Yep I did and she is just waiting for me to open it up to bolt out with them - so I went to the other gate and put them away (leashes required). Then abbey headed straight for their pool and cooled off. I love that about labs - they just lay down in the water like a duck. Of course Coco and Bella just drank from it (eewwww) and Coco gave Abbey a kiss - like "don't leave me when you go on adventures - I wanna go too".

Then Abbey looks over at me - "you're not mad mama- right - I'm too cute for you to be mad - see I'll smile for the camera".

Sooo, that was my Outdoor Wednesday Adventure - be sure to check out all the other bloggers and their posts at A southern Daydreamer. Now I have to go thrift store shopping (such hard work) for Leigh's Bloggeritaville Thrifty Thursday carnival. Tata for now.

Beautiful sunrise! Left me California Dreamin' and very homesick. I have lots of family in the deserts of SoCal and where I'm a beach gal, I loved visiting. Especially when the poppies bloomed. It always amazed that the desert would be overcome with color when they reared their little heads.

Your dogs are great, my Sheldon is a Lab/Husky mix and looks a lot like your Coco, but with lots more hair! Thanks for bringing such great memories by way today!

The story of your adventures chasing your babies had me cracking up. The picture of Coco kissing Abbey is my favorite. Your sun rise is beautiful too. Happy OW!

What a funny post. I can relate to that. I have five dogs. MY husky is a sneakyt dog and loves to be chased so she tales every chance to run out the door. It infuriates me! Great pictures though. I felt like I was there! Thanks for the link, sweetie!

Fun post! Pups do have minds of their own. Our little Chloe does - we're just bigger than she is so it's harder for her than for the big dogs!

Happy Outdoor Wednesday,

Gosh, what a beautiful sunrise and beautiful area you live in! Those naughty little pups are too cute to be mad at for very long. They knew they just wanted a little adventure and would be back soon. :)
